Geospatial queries in Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Just a really quick post guys –

imageIn my application coding I found this very useful article on support for the "Geography" data type in SQL Server 2008 (yup, seems that it’s been there for a long time). Having this data in the Database would be a big plus as the ability to use native DB functions to calculate distances and create database indexes on geography time should dramatically increase the performance of spatial related queries.

You can check out the details in MSDN Magazine for more details: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd434647.aspx
